Amazon’s rival in India, Flipkart is making a phone

Flipkart is trying to do an Amazon by tapping into its large smartphone user base to sell its first phone. Called the Billion Capture +, Flipkart is India’s largest online retailer. Although it features an awkward name, the device has some decent specs and a generic but solid design.

According to the Bangalore based retailer, “The phone"s design draws on detailed analysis of millions of customer reviews of devices sold on Flipkart”. It offers a 5.5 inch Full HD display that gives a total pixel density of 401ppi. It has Dragontrail glass for protection and is accompanied by an all metal design. On the back of the phone is a fingerprint sensor.

The device is equipped with a dual camera setup at the back -- a 13MP RGB (colour) sensor alongside a 13MP monochrome (black and white) sensor. This helps the user take depth of field pictures as well as better low light images. A dual tone flash is added to the mix too. The sample images look good enough, however, we cant say for sure till we try the device ourselves

Specifications of the Flipkart Bullion Capture +

For its price range, the Flipkart device has some impressive specifications. It comes with a mid tier Snapdragon 625 and comes in two variants with 3 GB and 4 GB or RAM. The GPU is an Adreno 506 while the on board memory varies between 32 Gb or 64 GB. Of course, there is a Micro SD slot for memory expansion. The battery packed into the phone is a 3500 mAh which the company says can power the device for two days. A loft claim for sure, but it cant be verified until we get our hands on the device. It comes with QuickCharge for faster charging.
