Sony"s next flagship smartphone could feature Snapdragon 845

It looks like Sony is working on its next flagship smartphone. Although the company is keeping its cards close to its chest, there are several rumours and leaks doing the rounds regarding the Japanese brand"s flagship smartphone. The latest leak comes in the form of a listing spotted on Geekbench.

The device which is spotted on Geekbench is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 845 which was recently launched by Qualcomm. Although it"s not confirmed what the device will be called, it is expected to be the successor to Xperia XZ1 and might be dubbed Xperia XZ2.

The Xperia XZ2 will reportedly feature a bezel-less design - something most other brands" flagship devices now sport. Another leak had revealed the Xperia XZ2 could come with a dual rear camera set up with two 12MP sensors. A set of images had also been leaked which indicated a very iPhone X like design with only a top bezel with an earpiece.

The Xperia XZ2 is expected to have a 5.48-inch full HD display and a metal unibody design. The Xperia XZ2"s leaked renders have suggested that it will run Android 8.1 Oreo and will pack 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone is also expected to have quick charging technology and could be powered by a 3130mAH battery. However, the highlight of the phone would its processor - Snapdragon 845.

Earlier this month, Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon 845, its flagship processor. The newly launched mobile platform is expected to save 30% more battery than Snapdragon 835 because the performance cores are coupled with four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The new chipset has support for Quick Charge 4, and according to Qualcomm, it can take battery level of a smartphone from 0 to 50% in 15 minutes.

Another big feature of Snapdragon 845 is the ability to capture 4K video in HDR at up to 60 frames per seconds. Slo-mo videos of 720p can be recorded at 480 frames per second, whereas those of 1080p can be recorded at frames per second.
