The 2018 Audi Q5, review

The Audi Q5 has been one of the best selling vehicles in the company. It is a mid sized offering sandwiched between the massive Q7 and the tiny Q3. However, the model was released in 2008 and has not seen any upgrades ever since. Audi has changed that now with the 2018 Audi Q5.

What is new in the Audi Q5?

This year’s model offers 252hp and 273lb-ft of torque, an improvement on 2017’s 220hp and 258lb-ft of torque. It will take 5.8 seconds to get to 100 kmph from zero. The all-wheel drive Q5 comes with a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

The exterior features a design that is slightly bigger than the previous Q5. The 2018 Audi Q5 is an inch longer, two inches wider, and has a slightly longer wheelbase. On the inside the MMI infotainment system has been given a makeover while there is an 8.3 inch HD screen in the middle.

The vehicle also comes with Audi’s assisted driving. Adaptive cruise control worked extremely well and the distance to the front vehicle can be automatically arranged. Lane assist works when the car is close to 35 mph. when engaged, it will detect when you’re drifting into another lane and steer back towards the centre.

The interior

The cockpit of the vehicle seems much like the Q7. The 12.3-inch HD display that takes the place of the usual instrument panel is also a pleasure to use. It has a tabbed interface with steering wheel controls that allows the driver to interact with the GPS, change radio stations, make a phone call, and see the usual mileage and fuel economy statistics. The MMI on the other hand is easy to use thanks to the knob, four buttons and a touchpad.

The front seats are comfortable and come with adjustable lumbar support. There’s plenty of headroom, even with the panoramic moonroof.
