Those of you who are early adopters will be happy to hear this news. Instagram is releasing a Alpha testing program. It will be available for both Android and iOS users.it will allow users to sample pre release features on the photo sharing app.
Wait… doesn’t Instagram already have a beta program for android?
Yes you are right. The app does have one. Many of the popular features such as account switching and albums first released on that beta program.
However, the newly released alpha program takes it to a much deeper level. The app version offered to these testers will be different to the one offered to those in standard beta program. Those in the Alpha program will get their hands on features that might not even make it to the standard beta program.
It was Android Police who first heard about this program. They managed to find it after seeing a post from an employee at Instagram on the website Reddit. The purpose of the post was to bring in individuals who were willing to do the testing. It gave them a link to join. Of course, after that, commenters started asking for a number of features on the thread and it was subsequently closed.
When inquired about the Alpha program, Instagram had the following to say.
We recently introduced Alpha programs for our iOS and Android versions of Instagram in addition to the Beta program we’ve had on Android for awhile. These programs are “a great way to collect feedback from the community
To join the Instagram’s Alpha program, you have to join this Google Group. Once that is done you have to join the Instagram testing program which is in the Google Play Store. Those of you iOS users are in hard luck because that program is not taking additional requests at the moment.
