ReMarkable paper tablet review

While E-ink displays used to be very popular, they have now fallen out of favour. This is due to the popularity and affordability of LCD devices. However, the company reMarkable is trying to change that with their reMarkable paper tablet. Let"s take a quick look at this device and find out if it is a gimmick or actually worth a shot

Design and specs of the reMarkable paper tablet

Design wise, the tablet looks like a fusion of the Kindle and the iPad. It comes with a 10.3 inch display with a stylus included in the package. It is clear that this tablet is aiming at the traditional pen and paper. the display has a 1872x1404 resolution with a pixel density of 226. It has a 1 GHz ARM A9 CPU and 512 MB of RAM. The storage is maxed out at 8 GB while the battery included is 3000 mAh. The battery will last you between two to three days on a charge.

The design mainly consists of plastic – you can find aluminium at the back- but the top and bottom have rubber strips for better grip. At just 350 grams, the reMarkable paper tablet is quite light. The stylus included does not need to be charged, which is a great move from the company.

Using the reMarkable paper tablet

Writing is a mesmerizing activity on this tablet. The tablet feels just like paper. it even plays out the same noise of paper scratching for a more authentic experience. The experience is hardly any different from typing on paper. there is almost no lag between the stylus and the tablet.

Drawing is also a great experience but there is one problem with it. You have only three pencil sizes. This might be a problem for hardened artists who look for precise equipment.

The reMarkable paper tablet costs $599.
