Microsoft Edge hits one million downloads

When Microsoft released Microsoft Edge in October, it came about as a surprise to everyone. The was launched as a beta app and only came out of the beta stage about two weeks ago. Now they have reached a major cornerstone. The app has passed one million downloads on Android.

Of course, this figure pales in comparison to other apps from Microsoft. For an instance, the Word Suite from the company has passed the one hundred million milestone. Even when put next to all of these apps, what Edge has done is quite impressive. The app was in beta for about two months and only shed the beta version a week or so ago. The high number of downloads have also propelled the app to the third on the list of most popular free communication apps on Android. Only Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are in front.

On a personal opinion, the Microsoft Edge app is quite easy and snappy to use. This is because Microsoft’s Edge makes use of Chrome’s Blink engine. This means the app is quite snappy and web pages open up fast.

Other than that, it has many other useful features. These include Favorites, Reading List, New Tab Page, and Reading View. For those who prefer something low key there is an inbuilt dark mode. This is great for those who are using the app in a low light surrounding.

However, the biggest and most important feature present in Microsoft Edge is its “Continue On PC” feature. As you can imagine, you can continue from where you left off on your Windows 10 PC. While Edge is great as a stand alone app and is a good alternative to Google Chrome, this is where the app really shines. The web browser does not come with extensions which is the only downside of the web browser.
